The Hajj Board changed the final flight's departure date from Thursday to Saturday in order to allow time for the completion of additional paperwork needed for a full trip.
In the end, the choice paid out because all 430 passengers
were on the final flight, which departed Accra on Saturday.
Unfortunately, because the last flight was overbooked, 27
people were unable to go.
The Hajj Board is working feverishly to make sure the 27
people who couldn't find room on the last aircraft get transported to Saudi
Arabia via other methods now that all of the Board's 10 planned chartered
flights have left the ground.
Ben Abdallah Banda, the chairman of the Hajj Board,
expressed sadness over the 27's inability to participate and reaffirmed that
the Board is making every effort to identify a suitable replacement for the 27
despite the short notice and near proximity to the Hajj.
