In a statement released on Thursday, January 4, 2024, and signed by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Presidency, it is clarified that the meeting did not have any intentions of utilizing the military to mistreat citizens during the December elections in order to achieve their objectives.

The public has been urged to dismiss this matter as insignificant by the President's office.

The President's office has acknowledged the presence of a social media publication making accusations of a deliberate effort by the Presidency to engineer politically motivated changes in the hierarchy of the Armed Forces, with the aim of using the military to mistreat citizens during the December 7 elections.

The statement confirms that indeed, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, held a meeting with Heads of Security agencies at Jubilee House on January 2, 2024, as is customary at the beginning of the new year.

During these meetings, the Heads of Security agencies extend their well wishes to the President for the upcoming year, while the President takes the opportunity to express his gratitude for their continued commitment to preserving the peace and stability of the nation. Contrary to the allegations on social media, no discussions regarding changes to the hierarchy of the Armed Forces were held during the meeting, as explained in detail in the statement.

The statement further clarifies that any changes within the military are carried out in accordance with the constitution and do not possess any political implications, as has been suggested.
