It has been discovered that two pupils from the Daboase Senior High Technical School in the Western Region died after drowning in the Subri River.
One more
student's body was submerged in the river, but it hasn't been found since.
On Saturday
afternoon, June 23, 2023, the victims—all first-year students—had snuck out of
the dorm to swim in the Subri River, which had overflowed its banks as a result
of the constant rain.
The three were with four other people who went swimming, according to Emmanuel Boakye, the DCE for Wassa East.
A joint team
of police and fire officials from the area has then recovered two of the
bodies. While a search goes on for the other victim who is still missing, the
bodies have been placed to the Effia Nkwanta Hospital Morgue.
"Seven students went swimming in the river covertly. One of them is still missing after two of them were rescued after drowning. The two bodies have since been left at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, and efforts are still being made to locate the second person, whether they are living or dead. Since then, we've told their parents, "He said.
