Mahama’s Aide Endorses Prof. Opoku-Agyemang's Continuation as Running Mate in the 2024 Election

Joyce Bawa Mogtari, a Special Aide and relative of John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (DC) flag bearer, is advocating for her boss to reconsider his choice of running mate for the 2024 elections. The legal practitioner expressed her support for Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang to continue as the former President's partner in the upcoming polls.

During the launch of the Obaasima Academy in Accra, Madam Mogtari emphasized the importance of bridging the gender gap by empowering women in leadership positions. She stated that despite Mr. Mahama having several potential candidates to select from, she had undisclosed reasons that convinced her that he would choose the former Minister of Education and Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast.

Madam Mogtari highlighted the NDC's constitution, which grants the flag bearer the authority to decide their running mate. She expressed her confidence that Naana Opoku-Agyemang would be given significant consideration, although her name had not been explicitly mentioned.

While John Mahama has announced that he will reveal his running mate in February 2024, Madam Mogtari emphasized the need to choose a woman to champion men's causes. She urged the selection process to consider the role of women in Ghanaian politics and the potential they have to make a significant impact.

In November, Johnama strongly implied that vice presidential candidate would be who had previously served his government as a Minister had shown dedication in out their responsibilities.
