The
facts surrounding the death of a Constable in the course of duty in the Western
North Region are the subject of a police inquiry that has just begun.
The Constable died on Friday after he was allegedly shot by one of his senior colleagues at the Western North Regional Command when they were returning from an operation.

Immediately
after the incident occurred, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Akuffo
Dampare dispatched a team to the Command to assess the situation and interact
with the personnel.
The
team was led by Commissioner of Police Director-General/Welfare, Habiba Twumasi
Sarpong.
Dr.
Dampare sent another team to the Western North Region on Saturday morning.
Members
of the Management Board visited the deceased's family to formally inform them
of his passing. They were led by Director in charge of General Administration
and Commissioner of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
The

The
family has been given the assistance of a police professional psychologist to
help them get through this trying period.
To
provide psycho-social support to the Western Regional Police Command's staff, a
second team of clinical psychologists has also been sent there.
The
suspect is being held while the inquiry is ongoing.
