Ghanaian music engineer and producer, Zapp Mallet, has taken back his previous comments about Afua Asantewaa Aduonum's attempt to break the record for the longest singing marathon in the world.
After the second day of Aduonum's attempt, Mallet expressed his concerns on social media regarding the loss of keys and the technical aspects of singing that she seemed to be missing.
His remarks received criticism and reactions, with some people explaining that the competition rules do not include the technicalities he mentioned. As a result, Mallet has now apologized to Afua, her fans, and all Ghanaians for judging her harshly without considering the rules of the game.
“Guys, I’m so sorry. I just realised I was judging Afua
Asantewaa so hard. Please forgive
me. I didn’t know the rules. But I said some
of the things out of concern for her. Please don’t get me wrong. I’m behind her
just like every Ghanaian,” his post indicated.
Afua Asantewaa Aduonum is
currently on a mission to set a new world record for the longest individual
singing marathon. At the Akwaaba village, she has been continuously singing
Ghanaian songs in an attempt to surpass Sunil Waghmare, an Indian who achieved
105 hours of non-stop singing in March 2012, as documented by the Guinness
World Records. Since beginning her journey at midnight on December 24, Afua is
expected to continue singing without breaks until December 27, totaling an
incredible duration of 4 days and 9 hours.
Throughout this impressive
feat, numerous celebrities and prominent figures have visited the location to
express their support. Among them is Vice President Bawumia, who emphasized the
importance of providing the necessary backing to the creative art industry,
allowing individuals with exceptional talents to showcase their potential.
