CAREFULLY MANAGE DEDE AYEW'S CAPTAINCY TRANSITION ADVISES FROM DAN KWAKU YEBOAH

Dan Kwaku Yeboah, a sports broadcaster, has suggested that the Black Stars captaincy transition from Andre Ayew to the next player be handled delicately to prevent a dispute.

Kwaku Yeboah's counsel was based on earlier Black Stars skipper changes that went poorly and caused disputes amongst players and the emergence of factions within the team.

Speaking on Peace FM, he cautioned that if the changeover of the present Black Stars captaincy is not handled appropriately, it might cause a significant breach.

Let's be careful so that Dede's transfer to captaincy doesn't cause us issues, he remarked.

Speaking while providing background information on Black Stars leadership issues: "Since 1992, every Black Stars change has brought challenges. Sammy Kuffour claimed he didn't like it, therefore it went from Kwesi Appiah to Abedi Pele to CK Akonnor. From him, we moved on to Stephen Appiah, and from John Mensah to Asamoah Gyan, where it spread into a larger problem. Another dispute came from Asamoah Gyan to Dede.

Black Stars captain Andre Ayew, 33, is approaching the end of his international playing days.

His obvious successor is current deputy skipper, Thomas Partey who led the team to their 1-0 win over Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Kumasi.

Dede Ayew who was exempted from the matchday squad for the Angola game surprisingly joined the team for warm-up and was an unused substitute.

He later pulled out from the squad ahead of the second leg due to an injury. The Ghana Football Association confirmed that Ayew hurt his knee after the Angola game following a slip down the tunnel.

Ayew, however, took part in the team's recovery session a day after the win before pulling out of the squad ahead of the trip to Angola for the second leg.
