The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced the change of all vehicle registration procedures to an internet-based system that can be accessed online (online.dvla.gov.gh).
The DVLA reported that its earlier manual method of car
registration and other associated services has been shut out.
This is in order to achieve its goal of eradicating the theft of
identities and dubious representation in the provision of these services.
The use of the National Identity Card is mandated for identity verification transactions as per the National Identity Register Regulations, 2012 (L) 2111. This requirement applies to all services, including applications and approvals, as stated in the document.
The DVLA stated that for all services, it is going to accept the
National Identification Card for identification verification.
“The verification shall be conducted in person at any DVLA office
or remotely via the mobile app “DVLA verify” available for download on Google
Player Apple Store” it claimed.
The DVLA invited registered vehicle owners to attend any of its
branches to get their car records authenticated and biometric identification
verification completed.
"This is crucial for improving security, guaranteeing traceability and accountability, and, most importantly, enhancing the customer experience in order to boost productivity," as stated in the report.
