Many sellers, led by market queen Nana Afia Kyeiwaa, at the Race Course Market Center in Bantama, have showered Hon. Akosua Fremah Osei Opare, Chief of Staff, with gratitude for providing fifteen (15) trips' worth of sand, stones, and three hundred bags of cement.

The first female Chief of Staff of the Republic is making this gesture to help market leaders navigate the muddy areas that always appear in the trading arena.

When it rains, the trading area floods, and walking across the market's subpar floor is challenging.

After the presentation, on Thursday, November 30, 2023, Nana Afia Kyeiwaa spoke to the media and complimented the Chief of Staff for treating the traders with maternal love and care.

"The situation in our market has been very bad and we have been struggling to deal with the bad nature of the roads and the floor especially during rainy seasons and so this support from our mother is a welcome one," Nana Kyeiwaa said.

Problems

She said that numerous requests for the local officials to address the problems at the market have been made, but they have not been answered.

She pointed out that the Chief's gesture indicates that the first female Chief of Staff is paying attention to their concerns.

"We are grateful to have a mother who is understanding, understanding of our problems, and willing to lend a helping hand. This is not the first time; on special occasions, she sends us money to grow our company and extends her compassion to us," a market leader revealed.

Other traders: The Chief of Staff was acknowledged for her goodwill by Mary Fordwuor, a 36-year-old plantain vendor.

"When it rains you will be sorry to come here and some of us struggle to sell our goods in this bad environment but God bless Madam Frema for coming to our aid," said Madam Fordwuor.

The Chief of Staff received accolades from 28-year-old dried fish vendor Elizabeth Nkansah for her compassion and understanding.

"We have really struggled here and it is so heartwarming to see these items here having been brought to us by our mother and we pray she ascends to a higher office in future so that she can help us better," Madam Nkansah said in a prayer.
